My story begins in early 2017 when I visited my friend, Lindsey, at her brand new cafe in Ardenwood Historic Farm. During my visit I expressed to Lindsey how interested I was in getting into the wedding business (since I had recently planned my own wedding and was bitten by the wedding planning bug). I asked if she needed any help with the upcoming season and Lindsey offered me “a couple of hours work” at some of the upcoming weddings. Little did we know, but those couple of hours were going to turn into so much more! This is where my story with Palmdale Estates Events begins.

My first day on the job was the first annual Ardenwood Bridal Faire in May 2017. I followed Lindsey around like a little puppy; meeting all the 2017 couples, soaking in all of Lindsey’s professionalism and trying to retain all the information I possibly could about the venue and the business. That day, I fell so deeply in love with the Farm and the business; I needed more! I was counting down the days till my first shift at a wedding!

I was super nervous for our first few weddings, I felt totally out of my depth but then I settled into my role and found myself incredibly happy (even after being on my feet for 10+ hours and having only snacked on cocktail hour cheese pieces since breakfast). Throughout the 2017 season I learned so much. I’ve learned a tonne about the business side from Lindsey, and I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of.

My favourite moment in any wedding is the minute right before the Bride takes her walk down the aisle, there is this nervous and excited anticipation in the air, and I get to be right there with her, fixing her hair, fluffing the dress, coaching her to take deep breaths and remember to walk slowly. Every Bride I meet I try to imagine her as my best friend & sister, I wholeheartedly want her to have the best day of her life and I will do everything I can to help make that happen.

If you had asked me a few years ago what I would be doing today, being a Wedding Coordinator would have been the last thing on my mind (I studied Counselling in school, and worked as a Youth Worker in Australia!).. But these days I cannot imagine my life without this job. I have found the thing I am truly passionate about, and I am so excited for what the future holds for Palmdale Estates Events.
